A wholly owned subsidiary of Weststar Resources to manage the company's arctic coal Licenses and pending applications. CSCC envisions becoming a Northern partner to provide a valuable resource and jobs within the Nunavut community.
CSCC Coal Projects:
Situated on Ellesmere Island of Nunavut Canada, Weststar's current licenses granted by Department of Indian and Northern Affairs (DIAND) cover 168,817 hectares (417,157 acres), with additional licenses remaining in application.
During the early 1980's coal exploration was initiated on Ellesmere Island and Axel Heiberg Island by Petro-Canada, Gulf Canada, and Utah Mines based upon review of both published and unpublished data describing coal occurrences within the late Cretaceous to Tertiary Eureka Sound Group. Roughly 1,600,000 hectares (3,950,000 acres) worth of coal exploration licenses were staked on Ellesmere Island in 1981 and the majority of it was held by Petro-Canada. By the end of 1982, reconnaissance exploration by all historic operators allowed for reduction of their licenses to eliminate areas of lesser interest and hold land of higher interest.
